The Clegg 4.5, 10 and 20 Kg Impact Soil Testers are now available with a new controller with optional GPS capabilities. For use with ASTM D5874 and F1702, the Clegg Impact Testers can rapidly scan compaction variations over large areas. The new control unit provides the operator with the ability to store test results, test site info, test materials, time/date, and GPS data (with the optional GPS feature). It can also download data to a PC in Excel spreadsheet format for enhanced evaluations.
The basic principle behind the Clegg Impact Soil Tester is to obtain a measurement of the deceleration of a free falling mass (Hammer) from a set height onto a surface under test. The impact of the hammer produces an electrical pulse, which is converted and displayed on the control unit in units of gravities "G" or tens of gravities.
The durable and easy to operate Clegg unit offers the convenience of rapidly scanning compaction variation over large areas.
